Solar Rebates

Solar lighting rebates and incentives

What may help pay for solar lighting in 2026, and how we help you check the current options before you buy.

The short answer

Incentives for solar lighting change often and depend on who you are and where the lights go. For businesses, the biggest help is usually the tax treatment of equipment purchases. Homeowners should know the federal residential clean energy credit ended for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. Some state, local and Utility Company Rebate Programs may also apply. We help you check what is available for your project.

For businesses and property owners

  • Equipment deductions. Solar light fixtures bought for a business are equipment. Section 179 expensing or bonus depreciation may let you deduct some or all of the cost in the year the lights are placed in service. Ask your tax professional what applies to you.
  • Utility Company Rebate Programs. Utility rebates mostly reward lowering grid energy use. Solar fixtures use no grid power, so check with your utility before counting on a rebate. Our Energy Rebates page covers how we help.
  • State and local programs. Some cities, counties, states and grant programs fund efficient or solar lighting for public, nonprofit and community projects.

For homeowners

The federal Residential Clean Energy Credit (Section 25D) is not available for expenditures made after December 31, 2025. Solar landscape and security lights also save on wiring and electric bills on their own, with no paperwork.

Incentives, amounts and eligibility are set by each program and can change. LED There Be Light is not a tax advisor. Confirm tax questions with your tax professional.

Step by step

How we help

  1. Tell us about the project. Where the lights go, how many, and whether it is a home, business or community property.
  2. Check current programs. We look at Utility Company Rebate Programs and other incentives that may fit.
  3. Choose qualifying fixtures. We source from over 350 manufacturers and pull the spec sheets programs ask for.
  4. Paperwork. We help put together the product documents, so your tax professional or program contact has what they need.
