Flush or semi-flush?
Ceiling height decides. Under 8 ft, choose a flush mount that sits tight to the ceiling. From 8 to 9 ft, a semi-flush drops 4 to 8 in and spreads light wider. Above 9 ft, consider a chandelier or pendant. For a bedroom, a fixture 12 to 20 in wide suits most rooms.
How bright should a bedroom ceiling light be?
A common target is about 10 to 20 lumens per square foot for general light. A 12 × 12 ft bedroom works well with roughly 1,500 to 3,000 lumens, ideally on a dimmer.
Are LED flush mounts good for low ceilings?
Yes. Slim integrated LED flush mounts keep head clearance and give even light.
